Hendrika “Rita” Theodora Baks (née Meekes), of Lucknow and formerly of Teeswater, passed away at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Lucknow on Friday, December 31st, 2021, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late John Baks (1986). Dear mother of Don Baks of Culross Township, Margaret (Andy) Sande of Kinloss Township, Wilfred (Lori) Baks of Culross Township and Michael Baks of Ripley. Missed by her grandchildren, Kevin (Heather), David (Megan), Eric, Laura, Heather (Chris), Angela (Pat), Steven, John (Diana), Carson (Nicole) and 5 great-grandchildren, Nigel, Charlotte, Madeline, Emily and Brady. Fondly remembered by her sister Annie Baak of St. Jacobs, 2 sisters and 3 brothers in the Netherlands and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands. Predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Hendrika (née TeBulte) Meekes, siblings Dien, Mary and John in Canada and 7 brothers and 4 sisters in the Netherlands. Rita was very dedicated to the family dairy farm, continuing to manage operations for a number of years after John’s passing. Her love of cooking for family gatherings will be fondly remembered by her children and grandchildren.
