A Sad Day for You, Anita, Nancy, Daniel and Patrick Hofmann

In such a short period of time you have lost first your mother and now your father; and now grandchildren have lost yet another beloved grandparent.
The farmhouse you all depended on as 'home’ on the Second Concession of Culross where your Mom and Dad were always waiting to greet you, no matter how many miles you had to travel to arrive “home”,- must seem empty.
But now, despite the sadness - you have memories, and now you gather with friends in Belmore to honour your Dad - and your Mom.
I speak on behalf of my husband Harry who passed away recently and myself and our sons and daughter Robert, Suzanne and David, And though absent today, we share your grief.
Time has gone by and it is only in these recent years returning “home” becomes a reason, when one after another, deaths occur, and only less than a month ago as David paid me a visit, in Whitby, ON, he and I chose to return “home” to Bruce County - to visit Eddie, who we had heard was not well.
So we made the trip from Whitby, east of Toronto that morning in July and for nearly three delightful hours we then sat together with your dad over a luncheon in a Kincardine restaurant with Lucille Fischer, Chris Lazerenko and his wife Pam Robbins, our son David now living in Nova Scotia with his family, and of course your dad, and me.
We are all learning that taking the time to visit an old friend, becomes a treasure, to be long remembered; and our visit with Eddie was just that.
Our last memory that day was of Eddie waving good-bye to us; and wishing us both a safe trip back to our own homes again.
And for you, Pat, Dan, Nancy and Anita - I know you are the next generation of Hofmanns and you will carry on your parents success in Canada! CEH

Our condolences to Anita, Nancy, Daniel, and Patrick on the passing of your father. Edi seemed to live life oblivious to his age. While in his eighties, he and a team of curlers from Belmore participated in a curling event for seniors. When we asked how his team did - he laughed, shrugged and said "Ugh - we got beat by a bunch of old guys." We loved meeting both your Dad and Mom. Many fond memories.
