Stephen Wall

Obituary of Stephen Wall

Stephen Frances Wall of Teeswater, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Saviour, at Chapman House, Owen Sound with his beloved wife Ruth by his side, on Friday January 29th, 2021 in his 69th year. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer! Stephen loved life and had a love for many things but was most passionate about his relationship with Jesus and he shared his faith with others till the very end! Stephen also loved fishing, especially fly fishing and spent many hours back in his early years fishing for brook trout and landing a nice salmon every now and then. He loved it so much that he learned how to tie his own fly’s. At a young age he became very interested in guitar. After his older brother got a guitar he decided he wanted to learn how to play. Because his parents could not afford lessons Stephen taught himself to play classical guitar and if you ever had the pleasure of hearing him play you already know how amazing he was. He recorded his second CD a few years ago at Solomon Studios in Teeswater, Ont. He also wrote a book to help others to learn the craft of fingerstyle guitar. Over the years he played for many weddings and funerals as well as fundraisers and loved to play at church. Stephen moved from the East Coast in 1995 when he relocated to Niagara Falls, Ont. It was there that he met his beloved wife Ruth. That same year, he also met his Lord and Saviour and in the year 2000 he and Ruth were married. Stephen worked as an NDT technician for much of his life often travelling between Pickering and Darlington nuclear plants as well as the Nanticoke and Bruce Power sites. Around the year 2000, Stephen started working primarily for the Bruce Power site. He got weary of the travelling and in 2004 he and Ruth relocated to Teeswater, Ont. Shortly after the move, Stephen became a full-time employee of Bruce Power where he made many, many friends over the last 17 years! Stephen loved his work and the people he worked with, and he took much pride in what he did, always determined to give his very best! In 2018 Stephen retired from Bruce Power. However, he continued to work as a contractor with Authorized Inspection Services till around September of 2020 when he could no longer work due to his health. Stephen and Ruth attended Clifford Community Church for the last 10 or 11 years and Stephen loved when he had the opportunity to share his gift of music with the congregation! Stephen will be lovingly remembered and survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Wall (née Long). He was a dear brother to his siblings Linda (Joe) Sanipass of New Brunswick and Anne Boychuk of Palmerston, Ont. Proud father of his 3 boys, Keith Wall, Anthony Wall and Richard Wall, as well as his two grandchildren Riley Wall and Jordan Wall, all of Nova Scotia. Fondly remembered by nephews Jason Wall, (New Brunswick) Aaron Mitchell (Kerri), Adam Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell (Glencoe, Ont.) and Zach Long of London, Ont., nieces Sarah Long and Rachel Long of London, Ont. and brother-in-law Jim Long and his wife Rhonda also of London Ont. Stephen will be dearly missed by his mother-in-law Dorothy Long of Wardsville Ont. and his many co-workers. Predeceased by his parents Albert Wall and Rose Marie Wall (née Chamberlain), brothers Gerald Wall and Kenneth Wall, father-in-law Walter Long, brother-in-law Fred Boychuck and sister-in-law Lisa Mitchell (Long). Visitation will take place at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Friday, February 12th beginning at 1 p.m. Everyone wishing attend the visitation must register by using the links below. All attendees must wear a mask and adhere to physical distancing protocols. A memorial service and celebration to honour Stephen's life will be held at a later date when family, friends and co-workers can safely gather to share stories and reminisce. Final resting place Kincardine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Stephen had requested that donations be made to Chapman House - Owen Sound, Teen Challenge - London, Clifford Community Church or a Pet Rescue of one’s choice in his memory. Donations may be arranged online or by contacting the funeral home. Stephen loved the 23rd Psalm but he also had two other passages of scripture that he really clung to. The first one was Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.” The second one is from the book of Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
