Nancy Mulvey

Obituary of Nancy Mulvey

It is with heavy hearts and a deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Nancy Joanne Mulvey (née Sothern), at the Wingham & District Hospital, on October 9, 2024, in her 82nd year.

She was the beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Mulvey (2021) and celebrated almost 60 years of marriage.

Loving mother of Jeff and Carol Mulvey of Ancaster, and Cindy and Paul DeVries of Fordwich. Cherished and proud Grandma of Grant Mulvey, Scott Mulvey and Aisha Weir of Hamilton, Karissa DeVries and her husband Jordan Kroes of Drayton, Craig DeVries and Jenna Lemieux of Listowel.

Survived by her sister-in-law Sharon Sothern.  Also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Murray and Cathy Mulvey, Barry and Penny Mulvey, Peter and Grace Mulvey, Keith and Rita Mulvey.  Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Bill and Jean Sothern, her brother Gary Sothern and Bill’s parents Harry and Elma Mulvey.

Nancy was born in Howick Township and resided in Belmore for the majority of her married life before moving to Listowel and the Riverview Park Retirement Residence in 2022.  Throughout that time, she made many lifelong friendships, and everyone was always welcome at Bill and Nancy’s for a visit.

She worked in the insurance industry for 30 years and was an active volunteer in the Belmore community for many years, being involved in both the Church and Community Centre.

A special thank you to Marian who took Mom “under her wing” during her stay at Riverview, to make her time there very enjoyable.  As well, words cannot express the gratitude and special thanks to Dr. Moores and the nurses on the 2nd floor at the Wingham Hospital for their amazing care and support for Mom during her final days.

Visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  A private family service will follow at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Hawkins officiating.

Interment Wroxeter Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation or the Belmore Community Centre (cheques payable to "Township of Howick") would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
