Obituary of Ike Schiestel

“Ike” Ignatius Leo Schiestel, of Parkhill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at home, on January 24th, 2025.

 

Beloved husband of the late Mary Schiestel (de Gouw), who predeceased him on March 25th, 2007.

 

Ike leaves behind a great legacy in his children and grandchildren that brought him much joy

* Nick and Candace, Maria, Luke and Rita Schiestel of Parkhill

* Sandy and Chris, Kuno, Alida, MaryBeth and Janette Hartman of Lakeside

* Rob and Shannon, Braya, Brodee and Tye Schiestel of Parkhill

* Greg and Mary and Auggie Schiestel of Saskatoon.

 

Dear brother of Anne (+) and Lorne (+) Schwehr, Nick (+) and Alice Schiestel, Fred and Darlene Schiestel, Charlie and Pauline (+) Schiestel, Gertie Eckenswiller, George and Marilyn (+) Schiestel, Peter and Jayne Schiestel, Tommy (+) Schiestel and Cindy and Doug Wyatt. Predeceased by his parents Fred Sr. and Gertrude (Schaefer) Schiestel.

 

Fondly remembered by his in-laws, Alice and Lucio Facchina, Francine and Jack De Groot, Johanna and Joseph Minten, Peter and Julie de Gouw, Elsie and Peter Dykstra, Agnes and Kees Peeters, Angela and Dave Kennedy, and Barbara and Chris VanderVloet.

 

Also survived by special friend Darlene Beierling and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours.

 

The family extends profound gratitude to Nick and Candace Schiestel and their children for their tireless and unceasing devotion and compassion they provided Ike. Special thanks to the staff at Craigwiel Adult Day Program and caregivers Brenda Beierling and Willie VanMassenhoven for the amazing support given to Ike through his final years.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Parkhill (159 Ann St., Parkhill) on Saturday February 1st, 2025 at 1:00pm.

Come and go open house Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5pm at the North Middlesex District Community Centre (225 McLeod St., Parkhill).

Private interment at St. Columba Cemetery, Bornish, at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sacred Heart Church Parkhill Capital Campaign, Craigwiel Adult Day Program, or the Alzheimer Society Huron Perth would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

 

We are comforted by the hope that Dad has been welcomed by Mom and their grandbabies we never got to hold.
