Obituary of Bob Meyer

Robert John “Bob” Meyer formerly of Teeswater at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 26th, 2017, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Joan Meyer (née Kuntz) of Teeswater. Dear father of Judy Gowland (Jim) of Culross Township, Nancy Walters (Mark) of Strathroy, Larry Meyer (Michelle) of Teeswater and Tim Meyer (Deb) of Culross Township. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jamie Gowland (Marcie), Jake Gowland (Alley), Andrea Cordes (Josh), Tiara Gowland (Mark), Holly Hanna (Matt), Shannon Schiestel (Rob), Tori Walters (Steve), Jordine Meyer (Andrew), Nash and Tanner Meyer and Craig and Alli Meyer and 5 great-grandchildren, Becksen, Cameron, Dawson, Leo and Natalie. Fondly remembered by siblings, Jim Meyer (Anna) of Toronto, Louise Ormond of Hamilton and brother-in-law Ed Klick of Burlington. Also survived by members of the Kuntz family and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Antoinette (née Schefter) Meyer, sister Helen Klick and brother-in-law Jack Ormond. Bob was diligently involved in community betterment and his faith. Bob worked at the family business, Meyer’s Meats until 1974. Between 1977 and 1994 Bob worked at Ontario Hydro as a firefighter at including time at Bruce Nuclear Plant, Darlington and Lambton Generating Stations. He was a volunteer Fire Fighter for 35 years in Teeswater from 1956-1991 and Fire Chief from 1976 to 1987. Bob was a School Board Trustee with the Bruce Grey R.C.S.S. from 1969-1978. Bob was a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight with the Walkerton & District Knights of Columbus. Bob’s hobbies included Training, Showing and Driving Horses. He refurbished Carriages, Buggies, Wagons and Cutters. He also enjoyed Painting. Steadfast to his faith, Bob attended Sacred Roman Catholic Heart Church in Teeswater. Visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with Knights of Columbus Service at 8:45 p.m. followed by Vigil Prayers at 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Teeswater on Friday, March 31st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Father Michael Anderson as celebrant. Spring interment Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations to Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, Wingham & District Hospital Foundation or Teeswater Culross Firefighters’ Association (cheques payable to the Municipality of South Bruce) would be appreciated by family as expressions of sympathy.
