Myles was my first cousin. He was a lot older than me but his reputation was well earned. We got to see him when the family was down in Mayfield. Once on a visit he took my brother Myles & I on a road trip. He asked me where were the "toll roads" of course we Irish kids had no clue what he was talking about. But we enjoyed one of the few trips we ever had in a car during a rare visit. I now live in Florida, if anyone knows of Corneilious O'Donoghue's address in Clearwater Florida, it would be appreciated.
Sympathies to Moira & large extended family.

Moira and family,
I was shocked and saddened to recently learn of your loss.
I will always remember Myles with the sparkle in his eyes and his devilish grin.
I remember as a young boy someone asked me how I knew the O’Donoghue family?
I told them they were cousins.
We were always made to feel like part of the family.
I can picture him now in heaven sitting at a card table with Dad, looking down on all of us. They will be enjoying a great game of euchre and chatting about the coming of spring and what crop would be best this year. They are likely also cheering on our Canadian athletes at the Olympic Games.
I know you will all have a huge hole in your hearts but remember that he will always be a part of you.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Myles grew up on “our road” in Cork City, along with Viv O’Gorman and Marcella Bradfield – we have known each other more than 75 years! He always wanted to be a farmer and spent his summers working on his family’s farms in County Cork. He was tall, strong, charismatic, a very good hurler, and held firm opinions. He and his close friend Brendan Hogan, who lived around the corner, emigrated to Canada around the same time.
Myles and Moira always gave a warm welcome to my family and Viv when we visited Teeswater. Every Christmas Myles read the annual Cork Holly Bough from cover to cover and sang the Wren Boy’s song on St. Stephen’s Day with me (by phone).
He will be greatly missed… Ar dheis De go raibh a anam - May his soul be on God's right hand

Myles was a wonderful man with a great, big heart and such a welcoming way with him. A man who loved his native Ireland especially his native county - Cork. He would say he was a true "Corkonian" who read The Holly Bough each year from cover to cover! He had a wide knowledge of Irish history and would delight in regaling these historical facts to us on many occasions. Myles had a great work ethic and loved the land - an astute farmer who always seemed very involved in the business of farming in his own community .
He was a social individual who greatly enjoyed lively conversation especially if it involved politics! It was always such a pleasure for us when he and Moira would visit us in Tottenham and we were blest by their company on many occasions. May the angels greet you Myles and bring you before the Lord .
Suaimhneas siorai tabhair do, a Thiarna, Agus go lonrai solas suthair air. My deepest sympathies to you Moira and all your family. Rest in peace Myles and pray for all of us.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Myles. One of Teeswater's finest men . Hard worker, wonderful father to all of his children, always a smile on his face when greeting you on the street. Would take the time to stop and chat a little. Enjoyed the farming life with his beautiful wife. You will be missed and for sure an angel watching down on the family.
